Ms. Browne's computer classes recently completed a lesson on Internet
Safety. With the consent of their parents, members of the Sophomore class
learned about the dangers of online predators, the effects of the overuse of
instant messaging and text messaging, use of Myspace and Facebook, as well as
the penalties of cyber bullying. Students were then put into groups to create
their own "Internet Safety Tips" to educate others.
How do you stay safe while you're on the internet? Since the internet is a
vast computer network system linking smaller computer networks
worldwide, it is important to remember that you are not alone online. With
various forms of online communication such as sub-links, pop-ups, online chats
and AOL messenger, you are exposed to the dangers that lurk behind the computer
screens of others. Predators seek out the young and vulnerable. Your innocence
is what they prey on.
To stay safe, never put any personal information online and never engage in
an online chat with a stranger.Minimize your time online and never let your
guard down while surfing the net. Visit Ms. Browne's

pertaining to internet safety.
