Monday Keyboarding Madness
Students in Business Computer Applications Class
Story Highlights
- Business Computer Applications
- In-Class Competition
October 4, 2008
Every Monday, Mavis Beacon Madness takes over Ms. Browne’s classroom.
Students will participate in an in-class competition that will have them race
against the clock to find the best typist in each class. The application, Mavis
Beacon, is a very helpful tool because it teaches students to have fun with the
process of learning to type properly, as well as, to pick up their speed and
accuracy. Mavis Beacon records the words per minute (wpm) and accuracy per
minute (apm).
In the first marking period, the students in Ms. Browne's Business Computer
Applications class are required to learn about the proper posture and
typing technique, internet safety and also to discuss the beginning stages of
the college process. Students are learning the importance of typing each day in
class and are constantly being challenged to become a better typist. Being an
effective typist will benefit these students when they face their future
endeavors.
This week’s sophomore winners for the game Road Race include Min Kyung Kim
with 112 wpm and 100% accuracy, Devon-Marie Keenan at 88 wpm and 100% accuracy,
Luana Natalicio 110 wpm and 100% accuracy, Lea Feghali 97 wpm and 100% accuracy.
Our overall winner was Natalie Ibrahim at 113 wpm and 100% accuracy.
