St. Mary High School's highest-ranking student has been accepted to
Rutgers, New Brunswick, on an $85,600 scholarship, over four years. Julie
Chipko, who has been achieving academic success throughout high school, will
attend Rutgers this fall, with a
Presidential Scholarship, which requires a minimum reading and math score of
1500, on the S.A.T. and a ranking in the top 5% of her class.
Julie has been raised in an academic environment. Both of her parents were
teachers, one brother is currently attending
Rutgers Law School, and another brother received the same scholarship
several years ago. Julie admired her brothers and
wanted to achieve esteemed, academic recognition, as her brothers had before
her.
Aside from her amazing academic profile, Julie is diversified with a large
spectrum of activities. During the past four years, Julie has participated and
excelled in basketball, softball, and volleyball. She is currently the President
of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She is an editor for
the school newspaper and the treasurer for the Key Club.
With her parents as teachers, Julie realized, early in life, that teachers
can provide the best assistance in life. Julie has been motivated throughout
high school by several of her teachers. However, she found one, in particular,
that challenged her academically and mentally. Julie specifically thanks Ms.
Schrank, her AP English teacher, for her hard work and dedication in the
classroom, driving her passion in the English domain, and providing the desire
to achieve greatness.
When asked about her hopes and dreams for the future, Julie smiled and said,
"I am not sure what I want in life." Julie has been a role model for her fellow
teenagers and an icon for her fellow students. Julie should be considered a
leader in all that she does. Many people have Julie to thank for their own
success in academics and for assistance in the college admissions process.
During her high school years, Julie has taken the most difficult classes
available at St. Mary. She has found a strong passion in Advanced Placement
English class and Film Study, and has considered a career in those fields.
Although Julie has not chosen a career path, she is confident that St. Mary High
School has prepared her for college, and for whatever career she chooses.
