Computer Technology
This is a full year sophomore course consisting of in-class lectures with
hands-on computer training. It provides an introduction to Microsoft Office 2007
applications; Word (word processing); Excel (spreadsheet layouts); and Power
Point (presentation graphics). Students will also use the Internet for research
assignments for other subject areas. There will be a mixture of business assignments, which
will provide the students with an understanding of the business world.

Computer Applications
VB.Net/Web Applications
This course covers the basics of the .NET Framework and its implications on
application design. Through the use of the Visual Basic.NET language, students
will learn how to create simple interactive applications with a graphical
interface. Students will also create web pages and web applications for the
school's web site, allowing them to get real world experience and use, out of the
computing language. Other languages to be explained are: HTML, CSS, PHP, Java
Script, XML< ASP.NET, and SQL. After completion of the course, the students will
have the skills they need to create useful programs and dynamic web sites.
Web Publishing
This course is designed to teach students the skills and tools that are needed
to develop a high quality, functioning web site. Through real world projects,
students will learn the steps in planning, designing, and publishing a web site.
Languages such as XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML will be utilized throughout
the course. The course will focus on topics of: Web Page Layout and Positioning;
Navigation; Template Design; and Compatibility. Laptops are provided to students
for both in class and out of class work.
Multimedia
This course introduces video production techniques. Students will learn basic T.
V. Production skills from camera operation to video switching and direction.
Students will also become familiar with Analog and Digital Editing. The majority
of the course is hands-on. Students will use the HDV video format, Adobe Premiere CS3,
Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Soundbooth to produce a semester film project.
Apple's iMovie software will be utilized along with some
advanced video editing programs.
Adobe Flash
This course provides a comprehensive authoring environment for creating interactive
Web sites and digital animation. Flash is widely used to create engaging
applications that are rich with video, sound, graphics, and animation. Students will be able
to create original content in Flash or import it from other Adobe applications, quickly design simple
animations, and use Adobe ActionScript 3.0 to develop sophisticated interactive projects.
Accounting I
This course acquaints students with the fundamental principles and practices of
accounting. Business problems similar to those in every day office procedures
are used, as a basis for instruction. The practical training includes minor
duties often required of the bookkeeper. This course will cover the role of
accounting in: Business; Business Ownership; Financial Statements; Banking
Activities; Payroll Accounting; Payroll Tax Returns; Processing Cash Receipts;
Purchases of Merchandise; and Sales on Credit. It is an ideal course for students planning
to attend college to pursue a business career or for those students seeking
employment upon graduation.

Accounting II
This course will provide extensive coverage of: Accounting Systems, Procedures
and Controls, such as analyzing financial statements, controlling cash,
purchases and notes payable, partnerships and corporations, and controlling
inventory. This is an ideal course for students planning to attend college to pursue a
business career or for those students seeking employment upon graduation.
