What Is The Tom Holden Golf Outing?

The Golf Classic is played each year in memory of St. Mary’s graduate of 1959,Thomas Holden. Tom was killed in Vietnam, October 22nd, 1966.

Tom earned 9 varsity letters while at St. Mary and is a member of our Athletic Hall of Fame. He played guard and linebacker at the U.S. Naval Academy. A First Lieutenant,Tom was awarded two Silver Stars for bravery.

His determination, competitiveness and aggressive spirit on the football field were the embodiment of his attitude and approach toward defending his country in Vietnam. For these reasons each year we hold this golf outing to remind ourselves of the life, love and spirit that was Thomas J. Holden, our hero.

Proceeds raised from through the Golf Classic will benefit the Thomas Holden Memorial Scholarship Fund.
