The Lady Gaels competed in the Joe Poli Holiday tournament during the Christmas break. They lost to Paramus Catholic 74-29 in the first round. The Lady Gaels bounced back in the second round, defeating Pascack Hills 49-35. In the third round the Gaels lost to Holy Angels 67-41, finishing 6th overall in the tournament. The Gaels return to league play on Tuesday, January 3rd at Wallington High School at 7:00pm. They host Hasbrouck Heights on Thursday, January 5th at 7:00pm. Come out and show your support!
December 23rd
The Lady Gaels are lead this season by senior captains Melissa Macaluso, Christine Sheridan, and Susan Perls. The girls faced a tough opening schedule with games against Wood-Ridge, Eastern Christian, and Immaculate Conception. They tipped off their season on Friday, December 16th hosting the Blue Devils of Wood-Ridge High School. The Gaels had three girls in double figures in the 67-48 loss. Freshman forward Nyree Grant had a team high 17 points and 21 rebounds. Senior point guard, Christine Sheridan contributed 13 points and junior center, Sara Ismail added ten. The Lady Gaels lost to Eastern Christian 63-40 on Tuesday, December 19th. Sara Ismail scored 15 points, and Sheridan and sophomore guard, Nicole Skelly added 6 points a piece. On Thursday, December 22nd, the girls traveled to Felician College to take on Immaculate Conception. Freshmen, Nyree Grant had a team high 9 points and junior guard, Amanda Millerferli scored 8 in the 76-34 loss. Despite starting the season0-3 the Lady Gaels are looking to make some noise in the Joe Poli Holiday Tournament at Pascack Valley High School. They will face Paramus Catholic in the opening round on Monday, December 26th. Come out and support your Lady Gaels!
