The walk was held on Sunday, October 26, 2008 and could not have turned out any more perfect. Beautiful sunshine and breeze on a stunning day. It was held at Bergen County Community College in Paramus and started at 10am. Students, faculty, family and friends began to gather on the campus, along with countless other participants. With an approximate amount of forty walkers from St.Mary's sporting there white breast cancer walk shirts and smiles, we began the walk.
The walk was roughly a mile and half and we had to do two laps. As the walkers began we were led by a drum line from a local school. With families, schools and businesses from all around the local area, the day was filled with remembrance of lost loved ones as well as building memories. To see everyone, men and women, young and old, come together and walk as one is an amazing thing. Everyone came together and had become a family for an amazing cause. The amount of people we helped is insurmountable.
The donations are more than money; it is that of the people's time. St.Mary's gave approximately seven hundred dollars in a donation of tee-shirt sales at school. We helped to change many peoples' lives, by donating. Even though we may have helped someone we may never meet, the change they have now in their life can never be taken away.
I would just like to thank Ms. Browne for entering us in the walk and thank everyone for donating by buying a tee-shirt and walking.
