November 3rd, 2008
This November, we find ourselves amidst a historic presidential election. For the first time ever, we will have either an African-American President or a woman Vice President.
In light on these events, St. Mary High School is planning to hold a mock presidential election. We will involve the entire student body. Some of our seniors will be casting their first vote this year, and can use this experience for their November 4th vote.
On Monday November 3rd, six students, via a television broadcast, will present information as to where each party stands on the following three important issues:
- The Economy
- Energy Problem
- Foreign Policy
On Tuesday, Election Day, all students will for Obama/Biden, the Democratic Party Candidates, or McCain/Palin, the Republican Party candidates. When the voting is completed the ballots are to be sent to Room 203 where the votes will then be tallied and the winner announced at the end of the day.
Voting is one of the most important aspects to a Democratic Society. Your voice will be heard. Listen carefully to the presentations and make an informed choice.
Below are video snippets from the mock election video that was shown to all students on Monday, November 3rd. Due to its size and length only parts of the video is available online.
