This letter is to inform you about the security issue which occurred on Sunday evening and precipitated the school closing on Monday, September 29, 2008.

On Sunday, we received an anonymous e-mail from someone who stated that a student was coming to Saint Mary High School with a gun. We immediately reported the e-mail to the Rutherford Police. After meaningful discussion, we mutually agreed to close Saint Mary Elementary and Saint Mary High School for the safety of our students. Since this is an on-going investigation, we were instructed only to

inform faculty and parents that school was being closed for security issues.

Although the investigation is on-going, we are confident that the proper steps are being taken to insure the safety and well-being of all students and faculty. As any new information is brought to our attention, be assured we will inform you.
