CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 2017-2018
Description: Presentation and discussion of various genre of literature. The students and moderator bring suggestions of titles and the club members vote on a choice. There is one book per month.
Description: Drama Club allows students to express their creative sides through acting. The use of facial expressions, body language, comedic timing and dramatic effect as all concepts that students learn to convey on stage in our school productions. Students not only learn how to act, but create memories and friendships that last a lifetime.
Description: The Engineering Club provides students an opportunity to learn about engineering by doing projects. If you want to try your hand at robotics, bridge design and construction as well as learn what it takes to pursue engineering as a career, then this club is for you.
Description: This club will research the exciting and impressive activities our students are involved in both in school and in their personal lives to be able to share the good news with our community. Students will be writing press releases, taking photos and contacting newspapers and other sources for publication to share information about St. Mary HS.
Description: Students will learn the basics of music theory while showcasing their own personal talent. Student may participate in the Mass and have a Christmas Carol Showcase as well as a Spring Show and Graduation.
Description: The History Club will aim to build in students the passion for history. Student will together learn from one another’s ideas, experiences and beliefs. Students will build on their research, communication and analytical skills.
Description: Various types of collections and events to benefit the community and other organizations.
Description: Provides math tutoring as well as math competitions, puzzles and problems.
Description: Simulate an assigned trial case by the NJ Bar Association. There will be opportunities to work with actual practicing attorneys as coaches.
Description: Would you like to explore the power of language and express yourself? In the Poetry Club we will share our written work in a positive and constructive environment. We will also learn about poetic techniques and eras of poetry to better understand the ancient art form. We will have fun discussions about the nature of being, humanity and life in general. Make friends, explore ideas and issues and become a more mindful writer and reader.
STOCK MARKET CLUB
Description: Students will participate in the Stock Market Game. Students will form teams and compete against other teams from New Jersey. The competition will span over approximately 14 weeks where students begin with $100,000 (fake money) to invest in the stock market. Teams will be able to buy/sell stocks of their choosing to see if they can increase the value of their portfolio.
WORLD LANGUAGE CLUB
Description: Encourages students to become familiar with different cultures and customs of countries throughout the world. Club members participate in various activities such as service, arts and crafts, music, dance, food and film.
