St. Mary High School offers a variety of scholarships designed to help you and your family pay for high school. Scholarships are gifts that do not have to be repaid. They may take the form of SMHS scholarships, alumni, or outside scholarships.

St. Mary High School offers a variety of scholarships designed to help you and your family pay for school.  These scholarships are based on various criteria, such as grades and need.

Alumni Scholarships

When a student’s need for aid is exceeds our ability to give it, there are various scholarships offered by the SMHS alumni.  The criteria for these scholarships varies by the alumni donor.

Outside Scholarships

Various organizations outside of St. Mary High School offer scholarships to students in need.  These scholarships have their own requirements and may require separate applications in order to determine eligibility.

Requirements for SMHS Scholarships

Students applying for scholarships must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete the Scholarship Application
  • Submit your application by December 31
  • Write a person statement stating why you deserve a scholarship
  • Meet the financial eligibility requirements

Deadline & Decision

All applications are due to the St. Mary High School Admissions Department no later than December 31.  Applications submitted after this deadline may not be considered.

Decisions will not be made until all applications have been processed.  Letters informing families if they have been selected for scholarships will be mailed with the application packet. Please do not call the office to inquire if you have been selected for a scholarship, as this information will not be given over the phone.

Only partial scholarships are available.

The Joan Wieser Mazor ’64 Memorial Scholarship

The Joan Wieser Mazor ’64 Memorial Scholarship, established by the Mazor family, has been created to honor Joan Wieser, a graduate of St. Mary High School.  This Scholarship honors her faith, her belief in a Catholic education and her commitment to service to others.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an essay that I have to write?

Applicants must write a 75 to 100 word personal statement stating why they think they are a deserving candidate for a scholarship.

Do I have to submit an application for every scholarship type?

All St. Mary High School scholarship applications use the same application. You only have to fill out one application per student. Scholarships that are outside of St. Mary High School may have their own applications and requirements.

Is there an application fee?

No, St. Mary High School does not charge a fee to apply for scholarships. Scholarships outside of St. Mary High School may have an application fee.

When will I know if I have received a scholarship?

Decisions will not be made until all applications have been processed. Letters informing families if they have been selected for scholarships will be mailed with the application packet. Do you offer full scholarships or athletic scholarships?

No, St. Mary High School only awards partial scholarships. In accordance with the NJSIAA, scholarships are not awarded for athletic achievements. All scholarships awarded are purely merit-based.
